What I did this Diwali

My Mom was simply shocked when I told her I would make a rangoli this diwali. She was worried I do ruin up everything and embarrass myself given the fact that all my neihgbours are well experienced professional rangoli makers. But luckily things didn't turn out that bad. I guess there is something mystical and magical when hues of color are brought together. And yeah, it was absolute fun too.

So here goes the quote from Martin Kippenberger,
"Entertainment and art are not isolated. Entertainment is in art like color in pictures."

Very good work! I see that you are filling up your rangoli with a tea stainer. That is required on a non-mud floor :(. Last year, that is what I did too!

This year, I discovered, mixing sand / salt / rice grains gives a better fill and textures to your colors. You can do many interesting things with these.

I must say, the design is quite creative. Did you make those flowers by hand?

@ Workhard alias Picasso in the making..

Thankyou :~)

@ hot cup of coffee

:~) Thankyou!
I used that stainer cause I saw one of my friends do that for a rangoli competion in my college and I thought it was an easy way to fill color quickly and give it a nice shade. But i didn't knew its used on non-mud floor.

Hey I used salt-super soft one...I still din't understand what difference it made to my rangole cause I actually filtered it again except that it increased the quantity of color I had.

I cut the flower designs on a paper first but couldn't make use of them as they were too small so I had to make them with my fingers.

Hehe I conceived that design :~D

And hey I am soon gonna try it out with different stuff :) I still feel obsessed with rangoli.

And thanks for your comment. I had no idea I could brag so much about this rangoli in this comment if it was not for you.
Feels good anyways.

Hey the effects can be easily put in thanks to picasa...u can try it out too..

I am still bad at drawing lines with a scale..I still remember how hard a time i had when i was in my 1st standard (or before i have a pooooor memory) learning to draw a straight line using a sclae.

You also might want to check out the effects in photoshop.com - awesome but you need a very good internet connection for that. Dont even try it on a dial-up
